Every year, we invest $4billion in R&D.
What could you discover here?
Our commitment to making a meaningful difference to health globally means we never stop searching for new medicines. We’re constantly innovating – constantly investing in the technology and resources that could lead us to the next big breakthrough. This is your chance to be part of it. Our global R&D organisation has a track record of creating medicines that meet some of the world’s greatest disease challenges. Across three continents, we have 12,000 scientists united by a common goal: to get effective new medicines to those who need them as quickly and safely as possible.
Our strategy
We concentrate on unmet needs in disease areas where we believe our skills and experience can make the most difference: cancer, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal disorders, infection, neurological disorders and respiratory conditions. We have built R&D centres of excellence in the US, UK, Canada and Sweden, and we continually seek out the best and brightest minds to join them.
Among a range of specialisms, we have an integrated small molecule and biologics capability, organised to design medicines that use both modalities, either individually or in combination. And we are now building our R&D presence in emerging markets so that we can understand and respond quickly to unmet patient needs in these regions.
Personalised Healthcare
The work of Personalised Healthcare (PHC) is a rapidly expanding and hugely exciting area of science. Today, more than 20% of our pipeline is actively exploring a PHC approach, with examples in every major therapy area. Our recently created Personalised Healthcare and Biomarkers function gives us a dedicated team capable of delivering registration-ready diagnostics and biomarkers for AstraZeneca drug projects. We are very much in the first stages of the team’s development, which makes this an exceptionally exciting time to join us.
Predictive Science
Predictive Science focuses on indicating the most likely effects and outcomes by combining all available knowledge and applying specialised technology, equipment and methods (such as modeling and simulation) to answer critical questions in the drug discovery and development process. We now play a critical role in the drug development process at AstraZeneca. Our ambition is to ensure every drug project team that could benefit from predictive science is able to access, embed and exploit it in their work.
Payer
Across the world, we deal with a wide range of payers, all of whom are involved in the reimbursing, listing and paying for of drugs. We work to ensure that payer perspectives are incorporated from early on in the product lifecycle. Join us and you’ll enjoy the opportunity to influence our development strategy, and play a key role in delivering better value medicines to our customers. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with extensive commercial and R&D experience, as well as an understanding of payer requirements, in both mature and emerging markets.
