Quintiles are seeking a Medical Writer to join their Medical Communications team to research and write a variety of materials to a high standard covering a range of therapy areas/audiences.

 Successful candidates will have come  from a PhD background, along with being client and opinion-leader friendly, capable and keen to represent the company at meetings and congresses.

 

Quintiles Medical Communications offer a huge range of outputs (with target audiences ranging from all levels of healthcare professional, through to patients and consumers), which makes working at QMC varied and interesting. A large component of our work is patient and investigator recruitment for clinical trials (advertising materials to encourage people to take part in, and stay on, clinical trials). These materials are highly designed, and written in a patient-friendly style, which adds to the interest of the role.

We try to involve our staff in as wide a variety of outputs as possible - no-one is limited to writing on one therapy area for one target audience.

 

Key accountabilities for the Medical Writer:

Research and write copy to the highest scientific and grammatical standards, displaying excellent technical accuracy, attention to detail and knowledge of audience

Develop materials according to internal/client brief

Incorporate internal/client/author comments using a scientifically accurate and balanced approach

Learn from and apply review comments to future work

Provide scientific advice/consultancy in areas of expertise

Exercise good interpersonal/communication skills for effective and professional liaison with clients, healthcare professionals and the internal team

 

Quintiles Medical Communications is an international medical communications agency that develops and produces a broad range of communications programmes and materials on behalf of pharmaceutical industry. Working with our pharmaceutical clients, our activities include organising international symposia, developing educational programmes for physicians and patients, producing clinical trial investigator and participant support materials, and developing print/digital materials ranging from sales aids to peer-reviewed publications. 

 

Educated to at least degree level or equivalent in medicine, pharmacy, or life sciences (PhD preferred) The ability to interpret complex scientific data and excellent attention to detail. Excellent attention to detail (e.g. grammar, style, consistency, scientific accuracy) Good research skills and ability to interpret complex scientific data Demonstrate familiarity with industry code of practice guidelines including ABPI/EFPIA/PhRMA/IFPMA and GPP/ICMJE Excellent time management and organisational skills Ability to work efficiently and effectively to tight deadlines Good interpersonal and teamwork skills Enthusiasm, drive and flexibility Flexible attitude - managing changing priorities Computer literate. Packages used include: Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) Familiarity with databases/search tools. Packages used include: Reference Manager, DataVision, PubStrat, Conference Authority, Journal Selector
