Our client are a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organisation who are looking for a Synthetic Organic Chemist to join their contract research and development team based in Northern Ireland
The post holder will perform high quality synthetic chemistry for clients to agreed timelines. He/she will carry out contract research projects, gram scale synthesis and process development prior to the synthesis of larger amounts of the target molecules. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary project team he/she will plan carefully, carry out their work safely and document and communicate their methods and results accurately.
Responsibilities:
Perform all project work to ensure effective and efficient on budget, on time delivery of the required amount of product of the required quality.
Carry out practical experiments and demonstrate understanding of organic chemistry, guided by line manager.
Plan daily activities to ensure project deliverables can be met.
Aid in the development of processes that are suitable and robust to transfer to pilot plant/kilo lab within budget and to the schedule assigned for that project.
Perform and interpret own routine analysis (eg NMR, HPLC, LCMS, KF). Discuss the need for obtaining further analytical data with line manager.
Act as support chemist for project in kilo lab./pilot plant operations by ensuring clear communication of expectations of the process to operations or plant chemist.
Keep the customer informed on a regular basis of the status of the project.
Candidate Requirements:
Previous practical experience of process development chemistry.
Previous experience of the synthesis and analysis of organic molecules in industry.
Previous practical experience of performing synthetic chemistry to a deadline.
