An exciting role has opened up in CSIRO’s Petroleum and Geothermal Research (PGR) Portfolio to provide leadership and technical expertise for projects and initiatives in geological carbon dioxide storage within the broader context of carbon capture and storage (CCS). The role will involve technical engagement in the exploration, appraisal and field development of geological carbon dioxide storage sites, and the establishment of CCS research facilities. You will lead CCS activities supporting the domestic and international oil and gas industry, the Western Australian Energy Research Alliance (WA:ERA), the South West Hub CCS flagship, and the WA government, with related projects funded through ANLEC R&D. This position will operate in the Petroleum and Geothermal Research Portfolio and will collaborate closely with the separate CCS research theme directed at the coal industry in the Advanced Coal Technology Portfolio but will particularly focus on CCS as it pertains to the needs of the oil and gas industry.

The successful candidate will have high-level relationship management and communication skills, with a strong focus on collaboration, both internally and externally, and at national and international levels, to achieve desired outcomes. The successful candidate will have strong links with industry, and will enjoy creating collaborative projects designed to produce impact.

You will work in close cooperation with researchers within CSIRO as well as with scientists from other disciplines and organisations, and be passionate about driving a successful CCS future.
