The main duties of this post will be to lead scientific research projects to develop more environmentally friendly and sustainable fishing practices. This will include the management of budgets, logistics, staff and timescales. You will be involved in the collection and analysis of commercial catch data and in the initiation and carrying out of operational scientific studies conducted collaboratively with the fishing industry. You will also be responsible for writing reports and peer reviewed scientific papers, presentation of scientific analysis and advice to a wide range of national and international customers, and identifying and securing international fisheries business for the organisation.
The post requires strong personal motivation and flexibility, working effectively as part of an interdisciplinary group and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also have experience in conducting scientific research in commercial fisheries and also in statistical analysis and quality assessment of scientific data and in the handling and management of large datasets
