The project involves studies of post-translation modifications by ubiquitin-like proteins and development of chemical probes using multi-disciplinary approaches. We also apply these chemical modulators to investigate the roles of SUMOylation in oncogenesis and HIV replication. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: enzymology, cancer biology, X-ray crystallography, or virology.
