COMPANY BACKGROUND:
The Healthcare Communications Network comprises 13 distinct divisions, providing market-leading services. Spread between the North West, Home Counties and Central London within the UK, the network also has a strong presence in the US and Central Europe.
This agency specifically has been going for over 20 years, working with 9 of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies, covering oncology, virology, respiratory, neurology and GI amongst others.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate would be responsible for one large account or several smaller accounts across the unit. The candidate would be supported on each product by editorial teams comprising senior support (Principal Writer or Senior Writer level) as well as a Medical Writer or Associate Medical Writer and an Editorial Assistant; the TL will report into the Vice President.
The TL needs to demonstrate effective leadership skills, supporting teamwork through encouragement and motivation, developing and nurturing talent and empowering teams to achieve success. In terms of line management, the candidate will be responsible for setting yearly objectives for their team, conducting reviews and setting development plans, and coaching junior team members. Performance management is an essential function so the TL must ensure all line reports have active and appropriate development plans that include tracking on the job coaching/mentoring and/or training that addresses both current and future needs, which feed into succession plans.
Key elements of the role will include senior strategic input into communication plans for individual products, hands-on writing as and when required, and extensive client support/liaison as well as communication with external Thought Leaders.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Medical Writing experience from an agency environment is an absolute must. Line management experience is a prerequisite and ideally the candidate should show they have line managed several team members at any one time.
International travel is a part of this role.
