Position Objective:
Establish short-term and long-term marketing strategies for the imaging and flow cytometry reagent products and execute the marketing strategies defined for these products. Provide marketing support to NPI and other business partners but not limited to Product Development, R&D, Regional Marketing and Technical Support teams.

Essential Functions:
Develop and implement marketing strategies (including marketing communication strategies) for new and/or existing products in the imaging and flow cytometry reagent portfolio(s).

Responsibilities include establishing and implementation of marketing plans, determining market/customer segments, product positioning, messaging, promotion and channel strategies and supporting regional implementation of the strategies.

Create and execute promotional and sales tools, product selection guides, marketing collaterals, marketing communications activities and plans with the Marketing Communications group and other internal and external partners to ensure consistency and effectiveness.

Develop and monitor budgets, schedules and performance requirements for the assigned business unit(s) and project(s).

Nature and Scope:
This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel requiring the ability to establish and clearly communicate verbally and in writing Invitrogen's product development and marketing communications operating plans and strategies. Effectiveness in this role requires an in-depth knowledge of those operating plans and strategies as well as industry practices for developing, promoting and selling similar products. The incumbent works on abstract problems across functional areas of the business. Identifies and evaluates fundamental problems for major functions through assessment of intangible variables. Interacts internally and externally with executive level management requiring negotiation of extremely difficult matters to influence policy. May lead the activities of one or more functional areas or project groups.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline, or the equivalent education and experience are required. M.B.A. strongly preferred.

Experience:
At least 5 years in a similar role including solid experience setting product marketing strategy, developing and successfully implementing plans . Experience in marketing in a scientific environment is a plus. Exceptional communication skills as well as analytical, project management and planning skills necessary. Business development skills and cross-functional team leadership experience also required. Proven ability to see new business opportunities set and meet aggressive objectives and develop strong working relationships required.
