The Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Geoscience will be recognized as a leading academic demonstrating discipline expertise and leadership. The appointee will coordinate and teach Undergraduate and Postgraduate Geoscience and Environmental Science courses; contribute to teaching in general Geology and Environmental Sciences; and supervise Postgraduate students in his/her area of expertise.

The position will be in the School of Geography, Earth Science and Environment in the Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment.

Qualifications:

Senior Lecturer – PhD in Geosciences or Environmental Sciences; either formal tertiary teaching qualifications and significant teaching experience or global expertise in the discipline; strong publication record.

Lecturer: PhD in Geosciences or Environmental Sciences; either formal tertiary teaching qualifications or some teaching experience; publication record.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong background in hard rock geology with particular expertise in such fields as Structural Geology or Igneous Petrology
  • Experience in developing countries; experience in Geosciences and Environmental issues concerning Small Island States is desirable
  • Experience in Distance Teaching and Flexible Learning would be advantageous
  • Substantial publication record in international refereed journals

Applicants should demonstrate expertise in Geoscience through appropriate research publications.

Contract Term: The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range:

Senior Lecturer: F$81,145 to F$93,629 per annum (Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)

Lecturer :  F$59,813 to F$78,700 per annum (Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)

In addition to the above, the University contributes 10% of base salary to an approved superannuation scheme, and provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate.
