LECTURER IN BIOCHEMISTRY

Applications are invited for a post as Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry on a fixed-term, whole-time basis (5 years). This is one of two posts currently being advertised for the Department of Biochemistry. The appointee will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education in the Department of Biochemistry, hold administrative roles, and be actively engaged in research activities.
The appointee will be expected to contribute to and assist in the delivery of research led teaching in Biochemistry to the Graduate Entry Medical Programme, assessment and examining on courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level and where appropriate adult and continuing education courses. S/he will engage in productive research and scholarship and contribute to the advancement of knowledge, participate in research activities and publish the research in appropriate peer-reviewed publications, creative works or other forms of scholarship appropriate to the discipline.
The successful candidate will have a doctorate, equivalent professional qualification or research experience leading to publication in the relevant discipline. S/he will have an ability to contribute across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes both in and outside the area of research specialisation. S/he must also possess excellent communication and lecturing skills.

Salary Scale (new entrants 2011): €31,821 - €51,270 / €62,353 - €81,459
