My client is a prestigious Pharmaceutical company in the South East of England, attracting research scientists and workers of the highest international calibre. They have made key advances in the treatment of a range of diseases.

This is an interim laboratory based position working within the respiratory biology team providing support to wide ranging drug discovery projects.

As a member of the in vitro cell biology group you will be part of a team undertaking innovative scientific research into the mechanisms and treatment of inflammatory airway disease. You'll play a key role within a multidisciplinary team providing primary cell functional assays and developing new in vitro models to investigate the immuno-modulatory properties of novel drug candidates. You will be expected to contribute practically to the testing of compounds/biologicals in a wide range of immunological and cell based assays.

The project that you will be working on could be at any stage within the research phase of the drug discovery process. You will need working knowledge of immunology cell biology and cell based assays, whilst cell signalling, FACS would be desirable. Initiative and the ability to work independently to carry out innovative science are essential.


To be considered you will need;

* A degree (MSc/BSc) in a biological science, preferably immunology or cell biology (or equivalent experience)
* A minimum of 1-2 years working experience within a biological research laboratory
* Confidence working independently with primary cells, FACS, cell based assays and functional assays
* Knowledge of and interest in drug discovery
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with excellent team working skills
* A drive for results, with the ability to work flexibly and work to deadlines
