Manufacturing Team Leader - Pharmaceutical

Summary

A brand new opportunity for an experienced Team Leader who has worked within a high-speed, regulated clean room manufacturing facility, preferably relating to the production of solid dose material (tablets, capsules and suppositories). This could be a great opportunity for someone who wishes to relocate to a beautiful part of the country. Experience of tablet manufacturing would be preferred but applicants will be considered from other clean room environments, including Food and FMCG.

The UK facility in North Devon, set in a beautiful location near the sea, has been around for over 30 years and has the capacity to manufacture and package almost 6 billion tablets, capsules and suppositories annually, mostly producing prescription-only drugs. The Role

Using your expertise to the full, you will lead a team of around 21 Manufacturing staff (6 Cell Leaders, 10 Process Operators and 5 Cleaners) on a Double Day shift basis. You will be responsible for managing all areas of the team’s work and it will be essential for you to have a regular presence on the shop floor, knowing at all times exactly what is happening in the individual cells, making sure that all departments (Dispensary, Granulation, Compression etc) are working together to produce large batches as efficiently as possible. You will ensure that GMP is being followed at all times and that batch records are completed correctly.

This is not a job for someone who likes to hide away in the office. This is a very people-oriented position and you need to be the kind of person who can react quickly, handling both technical and team-related issues. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for delegating new tasks, co-ordinating training schedules and maintaining training records, maximising the usage of equipment and continuing to promote a positive, hard-working culture.

Double Day shift pattern, as follows:

Week 1: 6am – 2pm Monday to Thursday; 6am – 12pm Friday

Week 2: 2pm – 10pm Monday to Thursday; 12pm – 6pm Friday

Experience

The successful candidate must have a strong Manufacturing background, gained in a clean room environment. You will ideally have some experience in the production of Solid Dose Pharmaceuticals (dispensary, granulation, compression, coating etc) but this is not essential. Most importantly, you must be an assertive, confident Manager who enjoys working with people and has a positive, encouraging nature.
