Horizon Diagnostics (HDx), a wholly owned subsidiary of Horizon Discovery Ltd, is the world’s first provider of genetically defined, human genomic reference standards, including FFPE cell line blocks, and purified gDNA. These standards offer a sustainable source of reference material to laboratories, proficiency schemes, and manufacturers, and provide an unprecedented level of control to the molecular pathology community. The availability of genetically defined reference standards will provide an industry standard for development and quality control of molecular assays, directly improving their accuracy. We are currently looking for an experienced and highly motivated Associate Director with prior expertise in the molecular diagnostics field.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the scientific and technical direction of the Horizon Diagnostics Laboratory to deliver robust, market driven products, advancing our growth in the diagnostics market
• Lead cross-functional product team that is expected to expand; manage expansion of the team while maintaining quality and timelines on deliverables
• Provide strategic leadership and product strategy with initial focus on the oncology market; actively participate in product planning based on in-depth understanding of the market opportunities
• Lead product innovation and deliver robust and high-quality molecular diagnostics products
• Execute development plans in high-quality and timely fashion; includes protocol development and introduction of new technologies to the lab
• Responsible for preparation, conduct and reporting of customer specified projects
• Actively promote efficiency and productivity in laboratory operations
• Liaise and, if necessary, resolve all issues with clients on project matters in a timely manner
• Resolve any manufacturing problems
• Active support of Quality Systems
• Regulatory responsibility for the laboratory
• Support sales and business development with scientific/project presentations and communications with potential clients

Experience:
• A relevant degree, preferably a PhD
• Previous experience in assay development with focus on molecular diagnostics products
• First-hand experience developing products for regulated markets
• Track record in leading, mentoring and developing technical teams that deliver high quality products on schedule
• A minimum of 7 years of project management and managerial leadership experience
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present scientific results
• Creative, with “can do” attitude, and be an innovative problem solver with a strong detail orientation and analytical ability
• Proven ability to create and communicate a vision and implement strategies to achieve it and strong innovation leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and to lead change
• Experience with compliance to applicable US and international Medical Device regulations and standards
• Familiarity with GLP environment, documentation and quality system
• Experience with laboratory information systems and their implementation
