Carbon Nanotube Research Scientist /Engineer, East Sussex, Salary £35-42k, Carbon Nanotube, Physics, materials science, chemical engineering, nanotechnology, CVD Growth, PVD / Growth catalyst, R & D, dielectric materials, thin film metrology, catalysts.
We have excellent opportunities for two talented and highly motivated research scientists / engineers to join an award winning Nanotechnology Company developing novel nanostructures and dielectric materials for semiconductor, membrane and aerospace applications.
As part of its planned expansion program they require two people to join the existing R&D team. You should have post-doctoral research experience in a related field. For exceptional candidates they may consider lower degree level qualifications if you also possess a strong track record of research in a commercial environment.
You will carry out science and engineering assignments as key members of research teams involved in the planning, organising, and developing of new materials development projects.
The role also requires you to have the ability to use and apply extensive knowledge of nano materials growth and catalysis techniques, and a demonstrable understanding of thin film metrology and nanostructure analytical techniques. This role also requires a high level of initiative, numeracy, good communication and reporting skills.
To apply for this role you must have the following minimum experience as detailed below
Experience with Carbon nanotube CVD growth techniques and PVD/solution processed growth catalysts is a key requirement.
Minimum Technical Background:
PhD or M.Sc qualified research scientist/development engineer.
Experience will have been gained in a commercial or post-doctoral research position, and a strong background relating to CNT/Graphene process development and materials characterization is a key requirement.
You must be able to demonstrate the following;
*Two years experience in CNT technology; growth, morphology and structure, previous experience on horizontal and vertical aligned SWCNT/MWCNT is essential.
*PVD deposition and chemical formulation of catalysts used in CNT growth
*Solution and vapour phase catalysts preparation and deposition
*Thin film material structure analysis
*Optical characterization techniques such as Raman, absorption and reflection spectroscopy etc...
*Practical hands on approach to research and lab equipment
*Solid understanding of growth mechanisms and reaction drivers
*Knowledge of general vacuum technology i.e. pumps, power supplies etc
*Clean room working environments
Preferred metrology experience:
*Step profiler
*Ellipsometery
*Raman spectroscopy
*Optical emission spectroscopy
*Residual Gas analysis
*FTIR spectroscopy
*SEM
*AFM
