Senior Process Chemist

Applications are invited for the position of Senior Process Chemist based within Norbrook’s Chemical Synthesis Division. The successful candidate will report to the Process Chemistry Team Leader and his/her duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Contributing to the design of safe and robust chemical routes
and processes;
• Developing and optimising safe and robust chemical processes in the laboratory, through systematic studies of reaction critical parameters;
• Scaling-up chemical processes to Kilolab and Pilot Plant scale;
• Assisting with Technology Transfer activities to full production scale within the Plant;
• Preparing clear and accurate technical documentation, including Laboratory and Production Control Records, Development and Campaign reports.
Flexibility for occasional shift work is also a requirement for this position.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria in order to be considered for interview;
• Educated to PhD level in Organic Chemistry with at least two years industrial
Process Chemistry experience, or alternatively MSc level in Organic Chemi
try with at least five years industrial Process Chemistry experience
• Ability to work safely within a Chemistry Laboratory and good awareness of
scale-up related Chemical Safety issues
• Enthusiasm for hands-on Synthetic Chemistry and Scale-up
• Strong problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to details
• Ability to work efficiently within a team
Desirable Criteria
Due to the nature of the role preference will be given to applicants
demonstrating the following desirable criteria;
• Previous experience in Process Research & Development within the
Pharmaceutical Industry
• Knowledge of ICH/VICH guidelines for API manufacturing
• Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
