Can you combine solid experience of information systems or data mining with a good grasp of R&D in the crop protection/seeds business? At Syngenta, we’re looking for an Information & Data Exploitation Specialist to join our Research & Development Information Systems (R&DIS) team. This team has a global remit for ensuring that our scientific innovation is underpinned by advancements in information management.

You’ll drive the exploitation of R&D information and data through exploratory and prototyping activities, using informatics, statistical and other techniques. Specifically, your role will focus on turning internal and external data resources into information assets and connecting them to key scientists. Enhancing our understanding of informatics, data visualisation techniques, and methods of data handling, storage and exploitation will also be down to you. The role will entail travel between our global sites.

Your experience in a relevant scientific environment will demonstrate a proven track record of applying IT and information management processes to meet the needs and challenges of R&D. An awareness of key data and information handling techniques is important, as is knowledge of informatics. Experience of environmental or field trial data will be an advantage, as would exposure to linked data solutions and experience of the semantic capabilities of ontologies and inferencing. An accomplished networker, you’ll probably have worked on projects with a dispersed project team.
