Materials Technologist

My client is a dynamic and pioneering company working in the field of recycled plastics. They are looking for an enthusiastic, self-starting, results-oriented Materials Technologist to spearhead the continued innovation of the groundbreaking technology. Reporting to the Operations Manager you will provide technical expertise and support to the production process driving the company forwarding its developments.
Educated in either chemistry/materials or an engineering discipline, you will have a solid understanding of plastics and how they interact in multiple mixtures. Ideally you will have 5 years experience in recycled plastics or waste management recycling, a hands-on approach and be willing to solve problems as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:

·Monitor, measure and report on polymer chemistry related process performances
·Design and carry out laboratory experimental work to develop products and processes for production plant operation
·Source and evaluate alternative sources for new/raw materials
·Perform plant investigations to identify root causes of problems and implement solutions
·Generate new ideas to develop products ensuring efficient and feasible implementation
·Maintain strong working relationships with all departments

Specific Skills:

·Strong understanding of physical testing techniques such as flexural, impact and compression testing
·Solid understanding of thermoplastic polymers flow characteristics (melt flow index)
·Good leadership qualities with excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
