Research & Development Scientist (Ref: RDE/122934)
Working within the R&D department, the successful candidate will be responsible for research and development in the areas of transducer design and thin-film wafer processing for the manufacture of future generations of thin film magnetic recording heads.

The position will involve applying and extending the latest understanding of device physics and microfabrication technology to meet the challenges of this fast moving environment.
- Product and transducer design will involve modelling, prototyping and performance analysis of next generation devices to meet customer requirements.
- Wafer process development will involve the application of advanced lithography, vacuum, plating, CMP and etch technologies using associated state of the art metrology techniques.

Reporting to the Research & Development Manager, the successful candidate will work within an established team of engineers and technicians defining and driving these leading edge technologies into future data storage products.

Applicants must possess at least a 2.2 Honours degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline combined with at least 2 years relevant work experience. A higher degree and/or thin-film wafer experience would be desirable.
