Existing strengths at Penn State span a wide range of topics, including multi-scale modeling, integrated assessment, study of coupled hydrological and biogeochemical cycles, contaminant fate and transport, ecohydrology, polar hydrology, and resource economics. Penn State faculty and staff are involved in the Critical Zone Observatory network, the Long Term Ecological Research network, the National Atmospheric Deposition Program, and other long-term environmental observatories.

The Pennsylvania State University is recruiting five exceptional postdoctoral research fellows to pursue cutting edge research in Batteries and Energy Storage, Biogeochemical Cycles, CO2 Utilization, Health and the Environment, and Water Science. This is one of those five positions. Positions will be supported by the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment (PSIEE) at Penn State, University Park, PA, and will include highly competitive salaries, funds for travel and supplies, and an innovative future faculty development program designed for the cohort of fellows. These positions are part of an initiative to enhance the already vigorous program of environmental and energy research and education at Penn State, and reinforces the university’s internationally recognized leadership in multidisciplinary research.
These positions represent an exceptional opportunity to develop new research projects in collaboration with two or more Penn State faculty. Positions are for two years, with a start date in Fall Semester 2012. An excellent publication record and a Ph.D. in a relevant field are required.
