My client is a a leading global health care company encompassing a number of different life science arenas including pharmaceutical, medical devices and laboratory diagnostics.

The global reach of this company is fantastic as it has facilities for sales, manufacturing and research and development throughout the world.

The Role:

Your role will be the Head of Market Access/ Marketing/ Business Development for one of my clients esablished pharmaceutical product divisions .

As the head of market access you will secure funding and maximum access for current and future products

This head of market access role is a leadership role defining the strategic response to the changing market environment and finding innovative solutions on how to shape and maximise the health care environment to my clients portfolio advantage in market access.

Champion the payer perspective and drive it into brand strategy and implementation and develop a co-ordinated strategy for engaging effectively with the NHS, including how to deal all questions about value propositions and reimbursement

Develop a network of Key Opinion Leader in the health economic payor sector and develop an excellent understanding of and close relationships with the needs and requirements of UK decision makers / payers

Define the strategic actions to the changing market environment, find innovative solutions on how to defend Abbott EPD products on the market and potential new entries


Ensure most optimal pricing and reimbursement at national and local level by proactively maintaining and optimising access

Work closely with other functions such as Medical, Finance and AI Government Affairs to build networks, understanding and close relationships with decision makers and leverage influence through joint programmes of action

Anticipate and influence Contracting & Tendering situations. Lead and coordinate with other functions (e.g. sales force reps, KAM payers/providers, legal, finance, AREA) to share information about C&T situations and oversee the establishment of solutions

Coach Affiliate Management Team in Market Access, constantly drive for excellence and ensure proper training for key internal stakeholders (HDEs, Medical Affairs)

Provide strategic direction and in order to ensure funding that Abbott products obtain and maintain optimal pricing, reimbursement status and listing on tenders while facilitating patient access to the best available treatment

Work closely with the General Manager and the Affiliate Management team to deliver and support all strategic goals

Lead payer engagement and drive the generation of market access relevant customer and competitor insights

Identify areas where the greatest opportunities and challenges for product growth lie.

Develop a national access strategy that incorporates contingencies for future access needs


The Skills:

Ability to provide direction and lead a team to achieve Market Access objectives

Ability to drive Market Access strategy with the rest of the business

Ability to innovate to create a sophisticated Market Access strategy across multiple stakeholders

Ability to manage, motivate, lead, coordinate and coach your team within market access, marketing, sales and business development.

Ability to evaluate the performance of your market access team critically

Must have a degree or equivalent in a life sciences or related subject.

The head of market access position will require some experience travelling as you may have to travel up to 20% within the UK and possibly Europe
