Project Coordinator - Environmental Monitoring Group
Salary £23-26k plus benefits
National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, Middlesex
The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is one of the UK's leading science facilities and research centres. It is a world-leading centre of excellence in developing and applying the most accurate standards, science and technology available.
NPL occupies a unique position as the UK's National Measurement Institute and sits at the intersection between scientific discovery and real world application. Its expertise and original research have underpinned quality of life, innovation and competitiveness for UK citizens and business for more than a century.
In this important project coordinator position you will manage the workload for projects, implementing the NPL project framework and support scientists in their delivery of complex projects. With minimal supervision, you will exercise considerable organisational skill involving excellent stakeholder management and communication.
The role would suit a recent science graduate, with a degree related to science, environmental studies or business management, with future project management aspirations. You will receive on-the-job training to enable you to support existing project managers, with opportunity to develop as a project manager yourself.
Giving full support to our Project Leaders and those involved in delivery and management of projects, you will ensure that quality and administrative cost objectives are fully met. You must provide committee service to project management meetings, producing and circulating pre-reading and minutes. This will include organising meetings at NPL and at external locations for UK and European partners and also internal meetings and project boards, taking minutes and following-up actions. You will engage and communicate with a wide range of external partners and customers, and work as part of a team to deliver work to a number of customers, including Defra, one of NPL's important customers.
You will collate and assist in the production of interim and final reports from both external project partners and internal scientists, and co-ordinate and progress key deliverables. You must produce analysis and management information, including financial, budget and progress reports of multiple projects. You will also implement a system for maintaining and organising project information.
As part of the Serco Group plc, we offer competitive salaries, a wealth of career opportunities and a wide range of benefits.
NPL is based in a unique research environment which is located in pleasant surroundings on the edge of Bushy Park in south-west London. We have a host of onsite facilities including a subsidised crèche, restaurant, and a sports and social club.
NPL Management Limited is committed to supporting its people to develop both personally and professionally and is committed to equal opportunities.
