An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Materials Scientist to join a cutting edge company specialising in Design and Manufacture. The ideal candidate will have experience within a high technology manufacturing environment. As a Materials Scientist you will be required to research and test materials in relation to the clients products and to present these findings to the business in order for informed decisions to be made with regards to new product development.
To drive forward materials related product developments you will have proven background scientific methodology with in depth knowledge of substrates, printing processes and laminates. The company is looking to substantially increase its scale of operations, and the creation of this new position will help drive this growth.

As Material Scientist you will:
·Provide technical support to the R&D function in relevant technical areas, to include troubleshooting, bid support and training.
·Assist in the creation and evolution of rigorous test procedures for documents and processes
·Undertake product development and testing activities as part of approved materials development projects
·Adherence to ISO9001 procedures for new product developments.
·Perform testing of new printers to ensure compliance with IDS materials and consumables
·Build and manage library of competitor samples
·Maintain an up to date awareness of external technical/material developments and IPR relevant to the R&D activities.
·Ensure that all experimental activity is conducted in a manner compatible with EHS, COSHH and company security/housekeeping requirements.
·To always act and behave in a way compliant with all company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to Environmental Health and Safety, ethics and codes of conduct
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
·Qualification in Scientific field (related subject) ideally applied chemistry or polymer science.
·Practical experience of running small projects
·Demonstrated strong time-management skills, with a sense of urgency, when required, to meet demands of company/customer needs
·Excellent planning, organising and communication skills
·Aptitude to analyse and resolve problems
·Communicate effectively with Operations personnel as well as internal R&D department to attain objectives and accomplish assigned targets/goals
