The Speke site will become a Centre of Excellence for the manufacture and supply of vaccine products. Their historic performance as a site, and their can-do attitude and approach will enable Speke site to meet the needs of an expanding MedImmune network and become a location of choice for future product manufacture within MedImmune globally.
As part of this investment MedImmune are seeking to build upon the technical expertise of the Speke site and as such are seeking to appoint an Associate Director of their MS&T (Manufacturing, Science & Technology) department to lead the process development function of their department.
As part of the UK Operations Team the Associate Director MS&T will provide key technical input in the support of the development and manufacture of MedImmunes seasonal flu vaccine through delivery of site objectives and ensure the seasonal supply of Live Attenuated Influenza Seed for bulk manufacturing.
Major responsibilities of the Associate Director MS&T will include:
·Provide leadership, direction and mentoring to ensure MSAT Department alignment and delivery of department objectives and functional compliance standards.
·Deliver the seasonal influenza vaccine seed for further manufacture
·Deputise for the MSAT Director when required, and help in developing vision and strategy for MSAT function - focusing on the continued upgrade of the function and development of key personnel for purpose of succession.
·Oversee the implementation of key site projects, ensuring Project Sponsors are fully aware of the status, that requirements are aligned to the site objectives and that the projects are completed within the timeframe and cost, consistent with Regulatory Planning horizon.
·Collaboratively work with Site Operations Team and corporate functions to achieve strategic product supply requirement and to contribute to the strategic objectives of the site.
·To ensure that the department provides the appropriate level of technical support to maintain cGMP and production efficiency by assisting in the resolution of production and analytical problems, by optimising operations and process efficiency.
The ideal candidate for this position will hold a credible track record in the bio-pharmaceutical, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry in a manufacturing led research and development capacity. Ideally the successful candidate will also hold a scientific background in a Life Sciences discipline supported by a degree or PhD with a distinct focus on research, development and manufacturing experience in reverse genetics / flu vaccine development.
Also essential to this position is strong leadership ability, able to instigate and motivate change whilst remaining strategic in the planning, prioritisation and project management of key mission critical projects to ensure deliverables are met.
