The Graduate Scientist may be given projects for all the companies within the Tangerine Group according to the demands of current developments within the department. In summary the work will involve:

• New Product Development
• Stability studies
• Troubleshooting existing products

Main Duties:

• Work with the Head of Research & Development assisting with new product formulations and improving the current   product range.
• Conduct laboratory and production-sized trials of new formulations.
• Help prepare technical documentation for raw material specifications, batch manufacturing records, finished   product specifications, etc. in accordance with current procedures and systems. Liaise with other departments to     develop validation requirements for new products.
• Perform stability studies.
• Participate in product development meetings.
• Submit a weekly memo to the Head of Research & Development charting the progress made with current projects.
• Follow all current SOPs covering all aspects of the development, manufacturing, filling and QC processes.
• Research new raw materials and where appropriate obtain samples for product development.
• Complete laboratory and project notebook(s); maintain orderly filing system.
• Keep the laboratory and office work area clean and tidy in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice and in   compliance with GMP guidelines.
• Maintain correct standards of Health and Safety in accordance with the Tangerine Group company policy and to   ensure PPE is used correctly.

Additional Duties:

• To assist in validation studies where required, through the writing of validation protocols.
• To carry out any other duties as deemed necessary by the Department.
• Attend staff meetings and training as required.

Occasional Duties:

• Occasional travel to other sites may be required. This may also include international travel.
• Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and the   grading as requested by the line manager.

Personal Attributes:

The post-holder will have:

• Batchelor of Science Degree (First class) within a science based subject and an MSc or PhD.
• The candidate will have scientific knowledge in the areas of probiotics or yeast as well as commercial experience.
• Work experience in a lab environment.
• Good organisational skills with a proven ability to work under their own initiative.
• An ability to handle the multiple and complex tasks involved in detailed product development work.
• Good quality IT skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Strong written communication skills.

• Regular visits to manufacturing/packing/warehouse necessitating the need for PPE as appropriate.
