Further information

We are currently looking for a Biomedical Scientist in histology to work for our client based in Cambridgeshire.

Our client is a tissue-based in vitro diagnostics company specialising in identifying and validating cancer biomarkers. It develops IVD products for cancer screening, diagnosis, staging, therapy selection and surveillance, and strives towards better treatment of patients worldwide through leading innovation in the biomarker field.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist specialising in histology and immunohistochemistry. This post will support the implementation of prototype level product development verification and validation activities associated with the development of diagnostic, prognostic and predictive IHC kits. The ideal candidate should be a BMS grade II and have routine histology experience, including tissue processing, TMA production, embedding and cutting. Previous hands-on experience in a range of immunohistochemical techniques, in situ hybridisation, automated platforms and digital pathology systems is required. Verification and validation experience as well as involvement in commercialising products in regulated environments would be an advantage but is not essential.

The successful candidate will have a BSc and MSc degree in Biomedical Science and will ideally be HPC and CPD registered, experience in oncology or cancer-related product development in regulated environments. Willingness to work with fresh or frozen human tissues is mandatory. Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills, ability to work to tight deadlines, and an acute attention to detail are essential, as is the desire to be part of a fast paced, multidisciplinary and dynamic environment. The company offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

To apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK
