Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for developing cell reagents and scale production in support of multiple project teams using traditional cell and bacterial culture methods as well as various automated technologies, bioreactor systems, fermenters, and cell analysis technologies.
The candidate will be expected to work a combination of traditional work week hours as well as some weekend hours. Weekend work is expected on a regular basis, but not every weekend.
The candidate will be required to work with human derived cell lines including human derived embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, iPS cells and primary cells in addition to other non-human cell lines and bacteria.
The candidate will be required to work with live animals and animal tissues in the isolation of primary cells on a regular basis.
Qualifications
BS/MS in biology with 2-5 years of relevant experience in mammalian cell culture techniques including routine cell expansion, cryopreservation, DNA transfection, cloning, and bioreactor scale-up. The ideal candidate will have experience in growing and optimizing growth conditions for a wide variety of eukaryotic cell lines including human and non human primary cells and bacteria as well as the growth, maintenance and in vitro differentiation of human embryonic stem cells, human adult stem cells and human iPS cells. Prior experience working with live animals and animal tissues for the purpose of isolating primary cells is desirable. Experience with lab automation, flow cytometry and bioreactor systems is also highly desirable. Excellent communication, attention to detail, teamwork and strong customer focus is required as well as the ability to learn new techniques, multi-task and, keep accurate records.
