Wet Lab Scientist - Genomics - South East UK. An innovative genomics company is looking for a molecular biologist to be involved in an exciting new collaboration for the development of a routine cancer testing tool. This tool will be for personalised medicine and the aim is to commercialise this for response to therapy testing of solid tumours. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in a collaboration between university hospitals and commercial biotech and diagnostic companies. This is a great opportunity to move into the commercial world from an academic laboratory or from a clinical cytogenetics role. In addition to lab work there will be frequent communication with collaborators. This role has come about due to funding from the technology strategy board.
You will travel fairly frequently in the first 6-9 months, initially you will spend 3 months training in the USA, then you will be working with collaborators to set up their labs and train them. You will be working in a team with bioinformaticians.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a PhD in molecular biology or similar, ideally with some cancer genetics or cytogenetics experience and microarray experience would also be an advantage.
