
The Site Engineering Manager will deliver the business needs by the rigorous management, support and development of the local engineering teams covering all Facilities, Maintenance and Process Improvement Engineers.
Ensuring that all installed systems are fully maintained and suitable for safe efficient operation at all times. They shall utilise their skills and attributes to deliver continuous improvement of production performance against targeted metrics.
They shall liaise with other engineering teams within the business to ensure the smooth introduction of new products/process into validated production, as well as the expansion of existing manufacturing capacity. Ensuring compliance with all current regulations and legislation, regulatory guide lines and company Standard Operations Procedures at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Attend daily production meetings, and ensure available engineering resources are targeted at the business priorities
Investigate and resolve specific production issues as required
Direct, support and develop staff to ensure they are suitably trained, motivated and carry out their responsibilities to the necessary standard
Sustain and constantly improve on engineering and production based metrics
Hold regular recorded engineering team as well as one to one meetings with engineering staff
Performance management of local Engineering team
Planning, scheduling, forecasting, and balancing engineering resources to ensure service levels to production are maintained at all times
Promote lean manufacturing, total preventative maintenance and improvement projects
To produce monthly reports that detail maintenance accomplishments in the areas of safety corrective actions and improvements, PM's, request for maintenance and improvement projects monitoring and trending to identify & highlight improvement areas
When required to make clear presentations as appropriate to internal or external audiences
Delivering a preferred point of contact for internal & external auditors for the local Operations Technical activities & responsibilities.
Assist in developing annual budgets and project proposals
Managing administrative and maintaining company assets for audit review
Maintaining and generate procedures for preventative maintenance and work tasks
Working with the facilities and projects manager develop companywide engineering / facilities standards then to apply and enforce them locally
Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
To organise, chair and minute internal / external meetings as required
To liaise with local Engineers and production associates actively participating in, and facilitation of team effectiveness
Supporting local teams to achieve their objectives and ensure smooth validation and ongoing maintenance of project deliverables
When required to participate in plant shutdowns for maintenance and to assist with shutdown works. This work usually occurs during the Christmas New Year period but can occur at other times
Ensuring housekeeping and cleanliness standards are met at all times
To identify requirements for staff training and maintain a full training matrix for the site based engineering teams
To ensure Health and Safety and Environmental Policies are being adhered to at all times
Ensuring compliance with all current regulations and legislation, regulatory guide lines and company Standard Operations Procedures at all times
Conduct themselves at all times in a professional and courteous manner, and maintain a good appearance acceptable to our customers and management
The achievement of agreed personal objectives
Whilst the above responsibilities constitute the primary functions of the role, the Site Engineering Manager may be required to carry out other reasonable tasks as dictated by the needs of the business.
Financial Responsibilities
Authorised order signature up to £5,000 for approved activities - upon completion of probation period.
People Management
Direct supervision of the Maintenance Engineers, Process improvement Engineers, Engineering Support Associate and Facility Maintenance Engineer
Indirect supervision of the Facility Technician and Janitor / Gardener
Additional Authority
Discipline of local engineering team up to level one of Company procedures

Knowledge and Expertise
Working knowledge of Process improvements using six sigma methodology
Lean manufacturing to include TPM within a high volume automated manufacturing environment
Experience in a managerial / supervisory role
Experienced in managing project and contractors
Highly Computer literate
Demonstrated ability to lead, acknowledge, develop, communicate & implement change / strategies in a team environment
Working knowledge of facilities / machinery safety regulations and legislation
Strong electro / mechanical engineering background with in depth knowledge of control systems
Experienced in managing projects, facilities and validation procedures
Strong presentation skills, verbal and written
Must make decisions to maximize plant output and efficiency and balance those decisions with GMP, safety, product quality and cost issues
Qualifications
Multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship
Black Belt in six sigma
Degree in related engineering discipline - or equivalent experience
NEBOSH qualified
