The Moredun Research Institute (MRI) is establishing a new research group and program with the intention of developing new vaccines that tackle specific infectious diseases in farmed fish. As part of a collaborative program an Aquaculture Research Group (ARG) is being established that will initially be comprised of three Scientists, but it is anticipated that the number will grow as the group becomes more established.

The purpose of this group will be to develop new and improved vaccines for farmed fish through basic and applied research.

You must have a science or veterinary degree, and a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area of science. You will have considerable post-doctoral experience working in a relevant research area. You must have evidence of conducting innovative scientific research and publication of original articles and experience of research within at least one, and preferably several of the following areas:

  • Immunology, vaccinology or host pathogen pathogenesis
  • You must have molecular biology experience
  • A track record of applying and securing external funding
  • An ability to work in a team
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written, and
  • Ability to innovate and establish new areas of research
