Our client is a Global Oil & Gas business who is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to perform a range of standard and some non-standard analytical tests in support of Downstream/Upstream R&D and manufacturing operations. The role is on a contract basis and will be 12 months in duration working from their Cheshire based laboratories.
Responsibilities will include:
· Working with Analytical scientists and customers, safely carry out standard and some non-standard methods in area of technical responsibility, including; gas chromatography (GC), liquid/ion chromatography, elemental analysis, NMR, microscopy/X-ray diffraction
· Understand and apply appropriate lab procedures with modification, as necessary, and with assistance
· Communicate (verbal and written) test results and issues as required
· Perform routine instrument maintenance
· Coordinate vendor service as needed
· Expected to work to internal HSE standards
· Work conducted in compliance with the internal Quality Management System
Applicants should hold a BSc or HNC in Chemistry, Physics or related subject, and have significant experience of working in analytical lab environments in an industrial setting throughout their career. Candidates will need the following skills:
· Basic laboratory skills with attention to detail and quality; aptitude for instrumental analysis
· Experience in calibration, standards preparation, and troubleshooting required
· Method validation experience helpful
· General computing skills necessary for instrument operation, as well as ability to use word processors, spreadsheets, and electronic communications
