As Research Scientist (Plant Metabolomics) you will apply your expertise in plant metabolomics and bioinformatics to progress my client’s research programmes. You will lead projects relating to the identification and validation of new technologies and scientific approaches enhancing bioinformatics and plant metabolomics capabilities. In doing so you will develop projects which align with our client’s vision for their research programmes, providing leadership and scientific support on all aspects of metabolomics and bioinformatics.

This is a management grade position and as such although the role won’t involve direct line management responsibility you will be expected to coach and train others within the research groups in order to enhance the understanding and application of plant metabolomics approaches.

You will work with a number of internal departments to drive scientific excellence, and liaise with external organisations and research partners to advance plant bioinformatics and metabolomics science, communicating your scientific research within the organisation via presentations and reports, and externally at conferences and through robust scientific publications. Where possible you will also investigate opportunities for collaboration and licensing new technologies with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and Experience Required:

·         Degree (ideally MSc or PhD) in Chemo-informatics, Bioinformatics, or a related subject area

·         Hands-on experience in the application of metabolomic techniques.

·         Experience in LCMS and/ or GCMS based metabolic profiling and metabolomic data processing.

·         Good awareness of technical developments in programming and database development (e.g. Java, SQL, C++, Perl or Python).

My client offers a friendly team environment, advanced research facilities and equipment, and a comprehensive benefits package including an excellent pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, share save and bonus scheme. In addition, for those needing to move to take up this position my client offers a full relocation support. Further details on request.
