
Responsible for the validation of all new tooling for new products and re-tooling of existing products. To provide support to the project teams in conducting material trials / colour trials.
Key Responsibilities
To carry out all new tool validation in line with appropriate procedures or protocols, either internally or at external subcontractors
To create the necessary paperwork and build an information manual necessary for the clean handover of new tooling into production
*To be responsible for training mould shop personnel in the installation and start up and shut down procedures as well as any in-press, tool cleaning and maintenance procedures that have been laid down by the toolmaker
*To install / oversee installation of any new ancillary equipment required on the moulding station for the trialling / validation of the new tool as required by the Moulding Project Engineer
To document and inform on tool driven process issues to the relevant Tooling Engineer / Moulding Project Engineer
To identify any processing issues and carry out Design of Experiments when required to identify if a robust process window for new and repeat tooling
To ensure that process requirements of all new tooling is understood, specified and is in place at tool design review
To monitor progress of all tooling validation processes to ensure timescales are maintained and to communicate status to Moulding Project Engineers/Tooling Engineer and other relevant parties as appropriate
To interface with Production to ensure that tool Validation/installation trials are carried out in a timely manner
To provide back up process engineering support to production when needed and as required by the Industrialisation Tooling & Moulding Technical Manager
To keep abreast of advances on Technology development in process technology to ensure Functional Excellence is maintained

Knowledge and Expertise
Experience in polymer processing or Injection Moulding in healthcare, electronics or packaging
Successful experience in new tool validation projects
Experience of working in medical industry with an awareness of Regulatory requirements.
Awareness and use of Statistical tools.
Qualifications
HNC or Equivalent; Polymers or related discipline
At least NVQ 3 level in polymer processing

Organised, highly motivated/self starter/driven /resilient
Good communication / presentation skills (written and oral)
Ability to manage detail in defined work area
Flexible approach (able to travel)
