
Our client are a major FMCG Healthcare business and they are looking for an R&D Category Manager to manage their cold and flu products. Salary will be competitive with excellent benefits.
To lead a team accountable for the development and delivery of all projects in the cold and flu team. To represent R&D on project development teams, providing technical expertise and interfacing effectively with other functions in the business.
Accountabilities:
Contribute to the Category Innovation process to create new projects.
Lead a team with global responsibility for the introduction of new development projects and enhancement of existing products in line with the defined Category Strategy.
With the R&D Category Director, generate the technical content of Project Development Briefs and ensure that all R&D sections are complete and consistent. Following authorisation of the Briefs, accountable for
-the achievement of project development milestones and objectives
-liaison with the appropriate development and supply chain personnel to ensure completion of all activities to plan
-satisfactory handover to manufacturing and launch to the market
-Develop a sound commercial knowledge and a close working relationship with the Category Team(s) to understand their needs, thus ensuring the development team is able to respond to business needs.
-Build a cohesive, motivated and professional team within a results-oriented culture, where personal responsibility/initiative, teamwork, and mutual respect are key.
-Responsible for the development of his/her team members to enable them to achieve their full potential.
-Proactively track and respond to competitor threats by understanding their development activities
Candidate Requirements:
Good degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
Extensive experience within Healthcare/FMCG environment running a small development team.
Experience of product development for the Cold Flu market desirable but not essential
Record of project delivery from idea to shelf
Experience with recruitment, management and development of people.
Good leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills.
Global mindset, commercial understanding of corporate and operational business issues.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically
Understanding of strategy and planning issues, consumer understanding, priority setting and project management.
Strong understanding of marketing strategy, planning issues, budgeting, priority setting, project management.
