Two postdoctoral positions are available to study  congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in the guinea pig  model. (1) The first will be directly involved in the development of a second generation novel vaccine strategy. Studies will involve various novel guinea pig T cell assays and characterization of neutralizing  antibody  targets, including newly identified viral proteins for viral endo/ epithelial tropism. (2) The second involves innate immune response of the placenta to congenital CMV infection. Studies will utilize the recently sequenced guinea pig genome to help define the pro-inflammatory response to infection.  Pathogenicity studies and bioluminescene imaging will also be used. The posts require  a Ph.D in Immunology, Virology, Cell Biology or Molecular Biology with appropriate experience. These positions are available in a well funded lab at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
