Job description:
This role will be office-based and involve using modern modelling techniques to address a range of challenges posed by agrochemical systems. The challenges are wide ranging from those encountered in crystallography (polymorphism, hydrate/solvate formation) at the molecular scale through to formulation stability (particle aggregation) at the mesoscale.

The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of the physics and be proficient in the use of quantum and atomistic molecular modelling. The candidate should be able to apply that understanding to other modelling techniques, such as mesoscale and discrete element modelling and across disciplines including process engineering.

Role requirements: Highly numerate with an ability to use mathematics across a range of scientific and engineering disciplines. Good understanding of the fundamental principles underpinning molecular processes Appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of different modelling techniques and where and how to apply them. Good understanding of data collection, manipulation and presentation. Proficient in the use of the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office. Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong organisation and interpersonal skills, reliable and enthusiastic

Main Duties/ Responsibilities

1. Plan and carry out modelling work to meet project targets and timescales as agreed with1 manager in order to increase understanding & thereby generate product or process improvements. 2. Process & interpret results as directed by1 Manager in order to progress work plans. 3. Investigate and establish the best modelling methodology, in consultation with1 manager, to give fundamental understand of the physical processes involved in the system under investigation. 4. Record all work in electronic lab notebooks and prepare for approval the appropriate sections of technical reports and memoranda to disseminate and record the results and conclusions of modelling work. 5. Carry out literature searches and searches of computerised databases in order to assist improve the modelling capability of the group.
