Applications are now invited from suitably qualified, well-motivated and creative individuals for a PhD position in the field of polymer processing to start as soon as possible.  Candidates will have at least a 2.1 class degree in materials science, engineering, physics or chemistry.

The project will involve the formulation and ultrasonically assisted compounding of thermoplastic composites and blends and the physical characterisation and testing of the compounds that are produced.
The Wolfson Centre for Materials Processing is a speciality research institute (SRI) focusing on materials research with an international reputation and currently has 40 researchers and 4 supporting staff. It is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for both polymer processing and materials characterisation, and carries out fundamental research and technological development for industrial applications in the field of materials processing.
You will join an academic team working in collaboration with the following industrial partners: Colloids Ltd, Telsonic, Elster, Omya and Johnson Matthey and Sulzer. You should be a team player, proactive, have good communication skills, and be willing to adapt to related subjects with which you are less familiar.
