This genomics company is looking for a bioinformatics scientist to be part of an exciting new collaboration for the development of a routine cancer testing tool. This tool will be for personalised medicine and the aim is to commercialise this for response to therapy testing of solid tumours. This is a rare opportunity work in a collaboration between university hospitals, commercial biotech and diagnostic companies. It has come about due to three years funding from the technology strategy board.
This is a fantastic role if you enjoy getting away from your desk to use your communication skills to explain your work in a simple manner to others. Initially you will be spending up to three months in the USA training and following this you will be based in the South East and travelling within the UK to work with the collaborators, the role will predominantly be office based.
You will be analysing data for determining copy number and interpretation of somatic mutations and should be able to develop novel statistical approaches for analysing data.
You will have a background in applied data analysis including experience analysing genomic data. Also required are advanced programming skills in Java, C or C++, statistical data analysis experience using R, S, Splus, SAS or Matlab, experience with Perl, Python or Ruby.
