Team Leader in Protein Biochemistry

A protein biochemist is required to lead a small team of research scientists. The successful candidate should be capable of project and staff management and should show initiative in design and implementation of experiments and new procedures.  This is a hands-on role that will include laboratory bench work. You will be expected to conduct your own laboratory work on one project and to supervise others working on different projects.

This particular role will involve technical and intellectual contributions to protein purification, process development, analytical development, antisera production, and clinical assay development. Management responsibilities will include formal line management and associated administrative tasks, supervision and mentoring of research scientists. Attendance at scientific meetings and presentation of posters or papers can be expected.

The appointee will report directly to the departmental manager but will have the independence to manage their team, and represent the department when required.

Minimum requirements are a PhD in biochemistry (or equivalent) and at least 2 years additional experience in the subject areas of protein biochemistry, purification and analysis. Familiarity with antibody and immunoassay development or previous commercial experience would be desirable.

The appointee will be expected to wear the “two-hats” of a research team leader and a senior scientist.

Salary will be dependent upon experience and will be benchmarked against similar roles. Are you ready for the challenge?
