UCB have developed a novel and proprietary antibody discovery technology which is applied across our project portfolio. The technology facilitates efficient interrogation of the immunoglobulin repertoire, in order to discover large and diverse panels of high quality antibodies and to enable the isolation of rare antibodies with desirable profiles.
Due to the high demand for monoclonal antibodies on a number of projects within UCB, the Antibody Discovery Team are seeking a high calibre candidate who can quickly integrate into this highly motivated and focussed group. The position will involve the use of our proprietary discovery technology to identify and deliver monoclonal antibodies across a number of research projects. The role will also provide the opportunity to develop our process through invention and adoption of new technologies and screening methods. To fill this position, we are looking for a Post-Doctoral Scientist (Ph.D) with laboratory-based research experience, ideally in the area of antibody discovery/engineering or B cell biology/immunology.
The successful candidate will be a creative thinker and problem solver but will be highly focussed and delivery-orientated. An ability to plan, design, execute and interpret experimental work in a timely manner is essential. The candidate will be an excellent communicator and be able to interface efficiently with multidisciplinary teams within our Discovery Research organisation. Experience of in vitro B cell culture, antibody cloning from single B cells, mammalian recombinant antibody expression and automated high-throughput screening would be particularly desirable for this position, as would some experience of mentoring junior scientists.
