Our client are a global FMCG business who are looking for a Packaging Engineer/ Packaging Technologist to join their hair team based in Cheshire. The successful candidate must have experience with packaging development, preferably from an FMCG environment
The technologist will work in the packaging development team that support the delivery and deployment of new and innovative Hair packaging projects on time, in full for the European market. Projects are related to innovation & renovation, value improvement and portfolio simplification, harmonisation . The technologist will lead the packaging development for one of the companies major brands.
Key Accountabilities:
To deliver the roll out of packaging solutions to agreed projects timings, on time in full, by following best practice in packaging project management.
Within the role the technologist work in multi functional teams (with marketing, Consumer Technical Insight, Consumer Marketing Insight, Supply Chain, Supply Management, product development, finance and other associated functions).
Lead packaging development for the brand providing technical expertise and support to other regional innovation projects
Areas the technologist will be working in are: Scoping of packaging projects, establish and follow project schedules, support design activity, implement packaging designs in Sourcing units and co packers, develop primary packaging, develop secondary packaging, deliver recommendations for new techniques and ways of working, responsible for intellectual property protection and patent, regulatory.
To conduct packaging laboratory tests to evaluate the various packaging functions.
To process and interpret the results of sets of tests and experiments, to draw conclusions.
Responsible for stakeholders management regarding technical issues/project status;
To assess packaging to ensure it is fit for purpose (by completing testing and trials) and to deliver the content of technical specifications for all packaging components developed in a project;
Risk management and environmental awareness;
To develop and maintain the relevant technical expertise and competencies for aerosol packaging development.
Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications:
Packaging development experience in a FMCG environment is preferred
A packaging degree or equivalent, materials technology or a related discipline
Experienced with leading projects on regional level. Self steering and proactive attitude.
Ability to manage several different projects or activities with different timings and deadlines at the same time, dealing with dead line pressure.
Proven record of Packaging experience.
Experience with project management.
Willing to travel within Europe
