This is a process-focused role and requires experience from a GMP-regulated viral / protein manufacturing setting.

A leading manufacturer of Biopharmaceuticals with a GMP-compliant facility in Keele, Staffordshire. The UK site is a centre of excellence for developing and manufacturing proteins, viruses, DNA and cell products, for use in commercial, clinical and pre-clinical products. The Role
Reporting to the Head of Analytics Services, you will lead a small team within the Analytical department which supports the production teams in relation to developing and manufacturing proteins and viruses.
You will be directly responsible for planning and co-ordinating a variety of projects and manage all analytical activities to support them. Ensuring that all scientific practices meet GMP and associated requirements, you will train and manage your team and encourage a positive, thriving culture. You will take charge of budgets, operational strategies, quality documentation and health & safety processes and will have a hands-on input into the highly technical elements of analytical support to the various onsite teams.
Experience
The ideal applicant will possess a degree (at least) in a scientific discipline (preferably Biochemistry, Biotechnology or similar) together with significant experience gained in a process-driven GMP environment, preferably relating to the analytical development and support to the production of viruses and / or proteins.
You must be flexible in the approach to your work and willing to take on a variety of duties outside of your core role. This is a relatively small company with a strong work ethic and they are looking for someone who is keen to get stuck in to range of things.
Specialist knowledge of either virology (e.g. HSV, adenovirus, AAV and lentivirus) or protein biochemistry would be a strong advantage.
