The Global Food Security (GFS) programme is led by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and brings together the major public funders of food security research, including Research Councils, Government Departments, Executive Agencies and Devolved Administrations. It aims to help meet the challenge of providing the world’s growing population with a sustainable and secure supply of safe, nutritious and affordable food.
One of the major roles for the programme is to ensure that the findings from existing research funded by GFS partners inform policy and practice.
We now have an exciting opportunity for an Analyst and Review Writer to join our team.
In this key position, you will analyse the breadth of existing research across funders in a number of food security areas, producing synthesis reports that describe key findings in a way that can be understood by a variety of audiences.
With a PhD level qualification or equivalent experience in a research environment, you will have excellent analytical and written communication skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines. You will possess a broad understanding of the food security challenge, good diplomacy and interpersonal skills, and an ability to synthesise and present complex information in an easily digestible way, ensuring that this accurately reflects the evidence.
You will be based at BBSRC’s offices in Swindon, although there is some flexibility for remote working for part of the time. You will be expected to travel to meetings.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package and the chance to make your mark in a challenging and rewarding environment. Shortlisted candidates will be expected to complete a test prior to interview.
The BBSRC welcomes applications from all sections of the community irrespective of race, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, age or gender. As users of the disability symbol, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.
Applications are handled by the RCUK Shared Services Centre; for further details and to apply please visit by pressing the Apply Now button.  If you are unable to apply online please contact us on 01793 867003 quoting reference IRC63167.
Closing date: 11th September 2012
