A leading R&D company is looking for a talented Physicist or Materials Scientist to join their innovative Optoelectronic Devices & Systems team. With a background in the research and development of Optoelectronic devices and practical experience of developing new semiconductor devices or systems you will use your skills and experiences to develop new, state-of-the-art devices for lighting, health and photovoltaic renewable energy products.

They are amongst the leaders in the development of products for lighting, image displays, electronics and energy generation. They constantly innovate to ensure that they remain leaders in their field. Their product portfolio includes Semiconductor Lasers, High Power Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) and Photovoltaic Solar Cells to name just a few.

The aim of the company is to generate new technologies and intellectual property.

To support this goal the company is looking to strengthen its activity in developing new groundbreaking optoelectronic devices and optical systems hence why they need you to join their team!

As Optoelectronics Research Scientist you will be:

  • Working within a clean room and laboratory environment, you will develop semiconductor devices including materials development, process development and fabrication of prototype optical devices suitable for systems demonstrations.
  • Characterise and measure semiconductor materials for devices using a variety of techniques such as electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction (SEM, TEM, XRF Etc)
  • Characterise and analyse opto-electronic/semiconductor device performance and provide innovative solutions for improvement
  • Design, simulate and build technology demonstrators
  • Generate novel IP

To be considered for the role of Optoelectronics Research Scientist you need the following:

Education:

  • Minimum of a MSc/MPhys/MSci or ideally a PhD in device physics of a relative discipline

Experience

  • Ideally you will have experience working in a commercial semiconductor/R&D organisation
  • You will have current experience of clean room processes and equipment
  • Experience of characterising semiconductor materials and devices
  • Semiconductor or Optoelectronic Device Modelling
  • Practical approach to product development
  • Ability to generate innovative device concepts and applications
