Development Scientist (Upstream)

Our client, a leading contract manufacturing organisation within the pharmaceutical and biotech arena, is currently expanding it’s North West facility and is seeking to recruit a number of Upstream Development Scientists.
As part of the upstream development group you will be responsible for cell line construction, fermentation development, scale up and transfer to manufacturing as well as upstream bioprocess characterisation and validation. In this hands-on role position you will develop robust and scaleable upstream bioprocesses in order to produce a range of biopharmaceuticals that can be transferred for manufacture as well as constructing cell lines using viral expression systems.
It is envisaged that the successful applicants will possess a Biology/life science degree or equivalent coupled with previous upstream process development experience gained within a commercial environment coupled with practical experience of expression systems and techniques. Good hands on molecular biology skills including general cloning techniques, sequencing and protein expression are essential as is a working knowledge of upstream fermentation and seed train systems.
Experience and a knowledge of cGMP and pharmaceutical standards would be highly advantageous.
