Our client are a leading manufacturer of insulation boards and they are looking for a polymer/development chemist to join their team based in Suffolk. This position is a 12-14 month contract.

The main job purpose will be to develop new products and chemical systems on behalf of the company.


Main Accountabilities:

Responsible for the project managed development of new products through development of new chemicals, formulations and processes both in the laboratory and on the production plants.
Responsible for the project managed development of new technologies both in the laboratory and on the production plants.
To liaise with suppliers and testing houses and other external resources via telephone, email and in person with respect to new products and novel raw materials
To assist other development functions in plant trials and evaluation of plant trial samples physical properties.
To assist in problem solving on the Plant with respect to existing production where this relates to chemical, formulation or product performance issues.
To evaluate, originate and update specifications and work instructions within Development and with respect to changes within production arising from development activities.
To evaluate competitors products physical and declared properties for the purpose of benchmarking new products.

Experience Required:

Job Knowledge/ Expertise - Thorough understanding of insulation product, performance and chemistry.
Business understanding - A high degree of understanding of the companies product range and performance aspirations will be required
To be educated to degree level in a chemistry or chemistry related discipline.
To have some experience with chemical and manufacturing environment.

This position is a 12-14 month contract.
