Zest Scientific recruitment is searching for an accomplished Surface Scientist with a background in X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) to join my clients Applications team. The Applications Scientist will be based at my clients Demo Lab (South East) responsible for showcasing the technologies surface analysis capabilities to potential customers. In addition to analysing sample sets you will attend and present at international conferences, providing technical expertise to support the sales function; consequently, it is important that applicants are customer focussed and understand that the role has a 'soft sales' element.
The Applications Scientist will collect data from evaluation samples and report the results to prospective customers. This is an important role supporting the sales function and it is essential that customers requirements are assessed and they feel confident that you are a credible point of reference. There will be some customer interaction which will require a degree of flexibility in your daily work commitments but ultimately you will need to demonstrate a solutions oriented mindset with an ability to interact in a calm and confident manner. The Applications Scientist will assist in the production of applications notes and contribute to presentation material which is delivered at exhibitions / conferences.
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent research experience) with extensive exposure of either Surface or Materials Characterisation techniques. You will have hands on experience with XPS technology. In addition to the requisite technical skills, the successful candidate will be customer oriented, able to work to strict and on occasions pressurised deadlines, personable with effective presentation skills and a team player.
