An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our client Unilever are currently recruiting for an Analytical Chemist. This is a temporary role to start ASAP and is expected to run for 6 to 12 months. The location for the role will be based at Unilever Leeds (Seacroft) LS14. These are full time roles paying between £16,000 - £23,000per annum (pro rata)
This job is based in the analytical laboratory within the Global Development Centre/Regional Development Centre, providing analytical assessment on a wide range of materials and formulations for cross-brand projects.
MAIN JOB PURPOSE
The key job role is to utilise a wide range of wet chemistry/instrumental techniques to analyse and interpret results on a wide range of raw materials and formulated products. The job holder would be expected to focus either in the area of raw material or product testing.
Testing of product formulation
Analysis and interpretation of raw data, drawing results and conclusions. Communicating results to a wide range of departments within R&D
Working across multiple projects simultaneously, organising sample requirements and analytical testing
Routine analysis on a wide variety of raw material and formulated products, including competitor products. Proposes specification parameters and ranges based on analytical results
Analyse, interpret and reports analytical data. Writes technical/Qualification reports.
Oversees the daily analytical workload of students and temporary staff.
Provides training and mentoring to students and temporary analytical staff.
Creates and maintains training records and documentation.
Develops new analytical methods of analysis with guidance from senior analysts when required.
Co-ordinates routine samples for 3rd party analysis. Interprets and communicates results.
Supports the analytical strategy and other R&D departmental initiatives.
EXPERIENCE
Degree/background in Chemistry, in particular Analytical Chemistry.
Experience in a diverse range of wet chemistry and instrumental techniques
Good working knowledge of Laboratory health & safety and COSHH.
Knowledge of handling hazardous chemicals, knowledge of incompatibilities, reaction instabilities.
Method development experience and application of statistics would be an advantage
Experience in testing raw materials and product samples.
Experience in wet chemistry techniques, standard laboratory testing techniques, colour measurement experience an advantage
