In Advanced Research, the Analytical Department’s mission is to provide expertise and innovation through analytical chemistry in order to support development of new raw materials – from small molecules to high molecular mass polymers - for cosmetic applications. More than 60 persons are currently working in this department, with a strong expertise in chromatography (HPLC, GC…), spectrometry (NMR, MS…) and physical characterization (microscopy…).

We are looking for a PhD-educated analytical expert with a strong experience in mass spectrometry oriented towards the structural identification of small molecules, polymers and complex mixtures.

What will be your activities and responsibilities?

You will work closely with all the entities of our Research & Innovation (Chemists, Biologists, Physicists, Regulatory, Business…) and will be strongly involved in research projects dealing with the development of new raw materials from their synthesis to their application on skin or hair.

As an analytical chemist, you will be in charge of the structural characterization of small molecules, complex mixture and polymers, using state of the art high resolution mass spectrometry, from their characterization to the elucidation of their mechanism of action.

You will be also responsible for promoting new methodologies, new technologies and new applications to strengthen the innovation of the department in collaboration with the related analytical expertise.

You’ll have to be well organized and will manage complex requests, in addition to being fully involved in laboratory security.

You will be short-term in charge of a team of 3-4 persons.

With a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, you have proven professional experience with an extensive experience in mass spectrometry

These skills are required for this position:

  • Knowledge and experiences of high resolution mass spectrometry coupled to liquid and gaz chromatography.
  • Strong skills in the interpretation of fragmentation spectra for structural elucidation.
  • Experience in gaz & liquid chromatography and in other fields such as spectroscopic technics (NMR, IR). Development and implementation of new technologies / methodologies as those using ambient Mass Spectrometry
  • Experience in the “metabolomics” approach and knowledge of the avalaible softwares for spectral data extraction and data bases interrogation would be appreciated.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work harmoniously with diverse internal and external work groups
  • Laboratory safety
