Post-doctoral Position at the University of Connecticut Health Center

Center of Vascular Biology, School of Medicine

Farmington, Connecticut, USA

A Post-doctoral position is available to investigate retinal vascular-epithelium-neural interaction and communication during development and disease. Our focus is to investigate how hypoxia sensing, oxidative stress, and autophagy may affect the dynamic interactions among different retinal cell types. Through these studies we aim at developing novel therapeutic opportunities employing gene transfer and stem cell approaches. As a new direction, we are particularly interested in how stem cells survival and differentiation are affected by retinal microenvironment, with a specific goal of designing more effective stem cell therapies aimed at retinal tissue repair.

Stipend is standard according to NIH guidelines, along with heavily subsidized medical care and dental care plans in accordance to UConn Health regulations. The position is contracted on yearly basis, renewable for up to a total of 5 years pending on availability of funds, qualification of performance, and necessity of the position. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology or related areas.

The UConn Health Center is an equal opportunity employer.
