Senior Research Technician - Crompton Lab
The Crompton Laboratory focuses on leveraging proteomic and genomic approaches to transform treatment approaches for pediatric solid tumor malignancies. We utilize high-throughput chemical and molecular screening coupled with proteomic and genomic profiling to identify new targeted therapeutic approaches for aggressive pediatric sarcomas. New targets and therapies are validated in cell line and mouse xenograft models with the goal of initiating new clinical trials. We also utilize highly quantitative genomic techniques to develop non-invasive liquid biopsy assays for patients with pediatric sarcomas. These new assays are designed to aid in the diagnosis of patients, measure treatment response, monitor patients for treatment resistance, and perform surveillance for possible disease relapse.
Job Description and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated experienced technician to assist in our work developing and validating new genomic approaches for the detection and quantification of circulating tumor DNA. As a technician in the Crompton Lab, your duties will include nucleotide extraction from patient samples and performing a wide range of molecular profiling techniques. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing cell culture, purchasing and maintaining laboratory supplies, and assisting with instituting operating procedures that maintain a safe and productive lab environment. You will work closely with the principal investigator and operate with independence once fully trained. Your research will significantly impact several major research projects with high potential for co-authorship on scientific publications.
This position will require adaptability to fast-paced research environment, ability to function in a highly collaborative environment, excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills, and a comfort with new technology. Candidates should have a BS, or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years of full-time laboratory experience. Candidates with experience in molecular techniques such as nucleotide extraction, DNA amplification, cloning, rtPCR, digital PCR, library preperation, and next-generation sequencing are preferred.
